Contrary to popular belief, chlorophyll is not an effective agent for reducing garlic breath. It may mask the smell, but it won’t remove it. A few vegetables are clinically proven to capture the garlicky smell on human breath. These are kiwi, parsley, spinach and basil. Cooked rice, cow’s milk and eggs are also effective. Eggplant, basil and white button mushroom extract (Agaricus bisporus) have also proven effective. As a general rule, to reduce garlic breath, eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and drink lots of water.
