About the Festival:
The not-for-profit Toronto Garlic Festival celebrates Ontario’s annual garlic harvest, featuring local farmers, chefs, and a variety of unique garlic-themed activities. The festival provides a vibrant platform for culinary delights, cultural talks, and creative expressions, drawing garlic enthusiasts from across the region.
Role Overview:
The Toronto Garlic Festival is seeking a creative and engaging Garlic Poet Laureate to compose and perform garlic-inspired poetry for festival visitors. This role involves crafting spontaneous poems that capture the essence of garlic and the festival’s lively atmosphere. The Garlic Poet Laureate will be a key figure in enhancing the cultural experience of the festival, offering visitors a unique literary perspective on the beloved ingredient.
Fee: $450 (incl. HST) plus a bakers dozen Ontario garlic bulbs. The festival will provide a table and chair.
Responsibilities:
Attend the Toronto Garlic Festival on September 28, 2025, from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Create and write garlic-themed poems personalized for individuals attending the festival.
Poems should be typed on paper or legibly written. Digital option is possible, let’s discuss.
Engage with visitors to inspire and share the joy of poetry and garlic.
