We’re excited to welcome back Ivonete de Sousa as our Culture Talks emcee! With over two decades of experience in film and television, Ivonete has previously hosted our Culture Talks in 2018 and 2019.

Born in São Paulo and educated in Brazil and Canada, Ivonete de Sousa is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience managing funding programs for the film and television industries. Her previous roles at Ontario Creates, formerly the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) within the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport, included positions as a Business Office rfor Tax Credits & Financing Programs and as a Film and Television Consultant.

Ivonete led funding initiatives to boost domestic film production in Ontario and support producers with feature film projects.Acknowledged for her contributions to the Brazilian community in Toronto,Ivonete was honoured with the “Brazilian Women in Power 2012” Award. In 2022,she launched a consulting business providing advice on funding and tax credits for productions in Ontario. With a Business Management degree for MediaProfessionals, Ivonete is fluent in English and Brazilian Portuguese. She is currently producing a feature documentary with Sean Cisterna of MythicProductions called Silver Screamers.During her free time, Ivonete enjoys hosting events and has previously facilitated the Toronto Garlic Festival Culture Talks, formerly known as Speakers Corner, in 2018 and 2019.
